Music as a Tool for Healing

the varied paths that led here

Alicia Marie M.S. M.M., splits their time between Cleveland, OH and Grand Rapids, MI. Their music calls for justice and change, while focusing on peace, connection, and delivery. As a queer classical musician, they work to balance the call for more feminist and LGBTQIA+ literature with the personal drive towards music of philosophy and reflection.

After serving in the US Navy for six years, including a tour in Iraq, Alicia Marie began to focus on healing and integration.  This led to a Masters in Counseling, specializing in trauma informed care for assault survivors.  Music held a strong draw, however, pulling them back for a Masters in Music Composition in 2022.  During this time Alicia Marie also discovered the power of intentional breathing, meditation, and movement, specifically yoga.

Currently their work focuses on vagal tone reconditioning through live music and the undiscovered possibilities of sound healing instruments in the classical world.  They also actively work presenting workshops and specialized intersectional healing events.  They have been lucky to be the first person to play crystal singing bowls in a classical concert, as well as winning composition awards, honors in the service, and honors during tenure counseling.

They also enjoy arranging graded repertoire for concert band and choir.  If you're interested in collaborating on a project, feel free to reach out!  Sign up on for the newsletter to keep up to date with shows, new music, and healing events.
